Ethiopia Shines on the Global Stage; International Architecture Awards 2023
In a world bursting with untapped creativity and limitless potential, the International Architecture Awards stands as a beacon of architectural innovation and design brilliance.
This prestigious event, organized by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design in collaboration with The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, serves as an annual celebration of the most groundbreaking architectural projects from around the world. Each year, the International Architecture Awards gathers a selection of exceptional projects, each representing a unique blend of artistry, functionality, and visionary thinking. A panel of esteemed designers carefully evaluated over 850 entries before selecting approximately 150 projects to be showcased at the prestigious awards ceremony.
At this year’s ceremony hosted at Eleon Loft in Athens, Greece, the International Architecture Awards 2023 celebrated remarkable achievements in architecture. Among the notable winners was ‘New Beginnings Urban Art Inaugural Installation,’ a captivating project designed by Alebel Desta and his visionary team. This awe-inspiring installation beautifully merges Ethiopian culture with contemporary design, earning its well-deserved place in the Display/Installations category. From its very conception, the ‘New Beginnings Urban Art Inaugural Installation’ showcases Ethiopia’s inventive spirit and exceptional creative craftsmanship by seamlessly blending its rich cultural heritage with modernity and innovation.
The outstanding winning projects are proudly displayed at the prestigious architectural exhibition, ‘The City and the World 2023 Architectural Exhibition,’ at the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, providing a unique opportunity for architecture enthusiasts and professionals from all over the world to witness visionary design in action, which will then embark on a tour through Europe and the United States. Additionally, these remarkable architectural accomplishments will be featured in the renowned publication “Global Design + Urbanism XXIII: New International Architecture 2023,” serving as both global recognition for Ethiopia and a platform to highlight our country’s extraordinary talent and innovative architectural community.
